How long will you take to build my web site?
Each individual web design project we undertake is goverened by it's own timscale agreed with each client.
Will I be able to watch my web site being built?
Yes, every web site we build will be available for you to view on your own domain. The exact web address will differ from project to project though it is normally http://www.yourdomain.co.uk/beta/. This ensures you are completely happy with your web site before it finally goes live.
I can't come to your office can you still build my web site for me?
No, we can and have built web sites for clients without ever meeting them in person. We have several clients who live at the other end of the UK. Although, if we are in the area we do make a point of dropping in for a cuppa.
Can you provide me with a written quote?
Yes. To provide you with a quote for your project we require a specification that details the requirements of the project. Please contact us to discuss your exact requirements.
Will this quote be the final price?
The quote you will be provided with will based on your requirements at this time. Clients can and are able to make alterations to the project during the build process although further charges will be incurred if additional work is undertaken.
How do I pay for my website?
For any web design project we undertake we require the payment of a retainer of 33% of the total estimated cost. The remaining balance is payable upon completion of the project prior to final launch. Once the final payment has been received the web site will be made live.
Do you offer web hosting?
Yes. Whilst we do not run our own servers we will give you advice on the type of hosting required for the type of project or features you may have in mind. Our chosen hosting company for all our clients is Dotnetted. Whatever your needs, we can find the solution for you - ontact us for more information on the various hosting packages available.
Do you offer domain name registration?
Yes we are able to register domain names on our clients behalf. We are also able to offer useful advice on which domain name is best for your organisation or business.
What technologies do you use?
For back-end web site development our favoured environment is Active Server Pages (ASP), whilst for front end web site development we develop in valid HTML, XHTML and CSS.
What do I do if my website requires alterations?
If your website needs amending we are more than happy to provide you with an ongoing support package. See our web site maintenance packages section for more information.
Do you offer post web site launch support?
Yes. Details of our ongoing support packages are available in our web site maintenance packages section.
What are web standards?
Web standards are a set of best practices for building web sites. The benefits of building a website according to web standards as opposed to conventional methods are:
- Reduced Markup: Less code means faster loading pages. Less code can also translate in the long term as a cost saving as less space is needed for server space and bandwidth.
- Increased separation of content and presentation: By using CSS to control a sites design, updates and redesigns in the future become far easier. Site wide changes can be made through the update of a single style sheet.
- Improved accessibility: A site built using Web standards will be able to reach the highest number of browsers and devices. The content of your site can be easily read in any browser, mobile phone, PDA or by those using assistive software, like screen readers.
- Forward Compatibility: By having your site built using web standards, you are ensuring that your website will be compatible with versions of future web browsers.
